Alpha builds of Trust6 are not yet notarized with Apple (a distribution step, not a product-security one). As a result, Gatekeeper, macOS’s application gatekeeper, may block the first launch. It is expected, and it takes a minute to fix.
”Cannot be opened, unidentified developer”
- First try right-clicking (or Control-clicking) Trust6 in the Applications folder, then Open. On some macOS versions, an “Open” option then appears in the dialog.
- If macOS still refuses: open System Settings, section Privacy & Security, scroll to the mention of Trust6, then click Open Anyway. macOS asks for your confirmation (and your session password).
This authorization is one-time: subsequent launches are normal.
”The file is damaged and should be moved to the Trash”
This message can have two causes:
- A genuinely incomplete download. Delete the app and the downloaded file, then download the installer again and reinstall.
- macOS quarantine on a non-notarized app. If the problem persists after a clean re-download, write to us with your macOS version: we will guide you based on your situation.
Why not just notarize?
It is coming: distribution signing and notarization are planned as the alpha wraps up. In the meantime, the alpha favours fast iterations with a small group of invited testers. The caution rule stands: only install files obtained through the official download page.
