Before you start

You need an accepted alpha invitation. If you have not done that yet, start with Accept your invitation: it is what gives you access to the download page.

Installation steps

  1. Open the download page from the confirmation email you received after accepting your invitation.
  2. Download the Windows installer.
  3. Run the downloaded file and follow the installation wizard.
  4. Open Trust6 from the Start menu.

On first launch

  • Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Alpha builds do not yet carry a recognized distribution signature, so Windows may report an “unrecognized app”. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. This warning will go away once distribution builds are signed.
  • The encryption key goes into the Windows credential store. That is where the master key for your vaults lives, never on disk in the clear.

On first launch, the app asks you to sign in to your Trust6 account. See Sign in to the app for details.

Updating

During the alpha, simply download the new version from the same page and reinstall over the previous one. Your vaults and conversations are preserved: they live in your user profile, not in the application folder.
